I am so thankful that I came across the Orient Xplorer treehouse getaway while planning our trip to Thailand from NYC. My boyfriend and I could not have enjoyed it more. Alex and Oppy, as well as the host family, made us feel so comfortable and right at home – as if we had been already been friends. They were so thoughtful and accommodating and fun to be around. The trip was run extremely well, and very true to what the itinerary states.
I would recommend the tree house excursion to anyone. It would be enjoyable for someone seeking relaxation and/or adventure, and for people of all ages. I loved just relaxing in the hammock while taking in the sounds of nature as much as hiking to the waterfall and then cooking that night. It was pure bliss! My only complaint was that it was hard to come back to the city after being in such a peaceful place!
Truly an experience we will never forget.
Thank you!!

We have met Josie & Ethan at the coffeeshop in Laos during our roundtrip 'Asia 2013'. They were two amazing persons who appeared to be very good friends of Oppy and Alex. They suggested us to go do the 'Tree House Hideaway' as we wanted to do a cool, fun and adventurous tour in Chiang Mai, Thailand. We were looking for something different, something unique and something fun - an experience to never forget- well, that was exactly what is was. They have thought us a lot and we had the most fun during the amazing trip 'in the jungle' with Alex and the local guide. Thank you so much, we had the best trip ever because of you guys!!

After planning on staying in a tree house around Chaing Mai we stumbled upon, fortunately, a brochure that gave us the details to stay here. Leaving it quite last minute Alex and Oppy immediately came to our rescue. I can't praise the place enough. It has stunning views that overlook an untouched valley, with the only inhabitants being villagers and the birds. It not only provides perfect escapism, but also fully embeds you in traditional Thai culture. From the hospitality of the owners and their family, the openness and sheer willingness to share their way of life far surpassed our expectations. The treks were fantastic, the information and ability to learn some Thai was immeasurable. We swam in a waterfall that was untouched by tourists and we even had the chance to meet some of the locals for an alcoholic beverage in the local bar/shop. The food was some of the best we tasted in the whole of Thailand and if we could we would go back within a heartbeat. If you're considering going, don't hesitate and just go. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

After a stop at a little, inspiring café, we arrived at the beautiful, naturally built tree house in the mountains of Chiang Dao district. It is located in a remote mountain village in the forest. On the way up there you have an amazing view to the Chiang Dao mountain, Thailand’s third highest mountain. The first trekking tour leaded us through bamboo forests, tea and coffee fields. At the beginning we also had the chance to get to know the village school and the lovely kids. Our guides Alex and Lung Sook could explain quite a lot about the village, plants and fruits in this area. Especially the fact that we were only a small group made the trekking tour more intense. When we returned we had the delicious dinner made by the family that lives in the tree house. It felt so good to be integrated into the Family during cooking and living together with all of them. On the 2nd day we went to another very nice waterfall, we walked for about 3 hours. We had a very delicious Picnic lunch (fried noodles wrapped in banana leaves!) over there before we walked back to the tree house for relaxing with a nice hot coffee. After, we did give hand in doing some homeworks, like roasting coffee beans and cutting a banana flower. We had a wonderful diner with Alex, Oppy and another couple that had arrived that Day. Ohh, I forgot the herbal Steam Sauna before we ate...SOO GOOOD!! On our 3rd, last day, we visited the impressive Chiang Dao cave and enjoyed the beautiful limestone rock formations. Thank you for taking us to all these lovely places... Kate and Josh.

What an amazing time I had on a trip to the Treehouse. Alex and Oppy were fantastic guides and organisers and made me feel very looked after and relaxed. After being picked up we drove up North through beautiful scenery - lush green forests, tea and coffee plantations and cloud covered mountains. The view is stunning - the large communal dining and balcony area looks out over the forest and below there is a small river. Lots of birds and butterflies to happily watch and later do some star gazing or sit round the pit fire. Alex and 'Uncle Sook' who is part of the family who runs the Treehouse took me on a 3 hour trek through the forest, we tried sour fruit, and had a quick dunk in a waterfall, and made our way back and had a herbal steam! (well deserved). Later the family joined us for dinner - wonderful food! Oppy and I cooked bananas on the fire (mine was less successful) after some card games. It was wonderful going to sleep listening to the sounds of the forest and river. A magical experience & one not easily forgotten. An authentic one too-I felt like the only tourist in the area. I can't recommend it highly enough! Thank you both for a wonderful time. This was not just a tour for me, this was making new friends.

The Tree house was just the experience I had dreamed about having in Thailand! The views from the Tree House will take your breath away. It offers a quiet, peaceful, and unique escape from a touristy city and we really enjoyed that about our time here. We took a fairly easy hike to a watefall with our awesome, enthusiastic and helpful guide Alex as well as one of the local guides. While here we also got to visit a local school/ orphenage and play dodgeball with the kids. we also released one of the thai lanterns into the sky which was cool. There was a chance to hang out with the locals and i liked this a lot. Would have loved if they joined us for dinner, but not sure if they felt they should or not.... The food was very tasty and the sauna was also a cool experience. my favorite thing had to be waking up with that amazing view, fresh, air and the feeling of being completely surrounded by a place so authentic and secluded! Alex definitely goes out of his way to see that his customers are satisfied and that their experience is fitting for what they are looking for. Although it was just me and one other person on the tour, the tree house was large and i think it would be very suitable for groups looking for a unique experience! I want to live in the tree house! it was that amazing, go here!

The treehouse experience was amazing. By far one of my favourite experiences in Northern Thailand. I took the option of visiting a cave on the way to the treehouse which was great.
The treehouse was very peaceful and the herbal sauna was an experience in its own after a great trek to the local waterfall.
Furthermore the host family and Alex & Oppy made my stay even better. I am very thankful to you all!

Alex drove us up to the tree house where we met Oppy, his lovely wife. The atmosphere was brilliant, the hosts very welcoming&friendly, the food delicious. Loved the herbal sauna, loved the hike through the forest in the pouring rain with Alex and one of the host family members, loved the views, loved the food, loved managing to take a freezing shower and feeling invigorated afterwards. We visited the local temple where the Buddhist monk was talking to our host family before leaving us to make use of his wifi connexion in his bungalow! We visited the orphanage/school and were amazed by what the headmaster and his team were achieving. My youngest son and I had a synchronized Thai massage in the tree house and it was one of the best experiences we've ever had. After being pummelled and stretched, we felt completely relaxed and at one with the world! This place would be ideal for a yoga retreat.
Take plenty of dry clothes in case of rain and a game of something for the evening. Alex and Oppy are a great young couple whom we met up with again in Chiang Mai for coffee and a day's tour.
We would really recommend this trip to the tree house and recommend Orient Xplorer!
Alex and Oppy are enthusiastic, laid back and fun. They care about whether you are enjoying the trips. We had a disappointing experience with the Lahu and Alex, to compensate for this, took us on a full day's tour around Chiang Mai and the surrounding area.

Loved the hospitality, location, and activities. Very relaxed family atmosphere in which you feel very quickly at home. The boys loved learning to play UNO and the sauna with coffee scrub was amazing---loved it. We also had a massage and whilst trekking collected our own bamboo shoots which we later prepared for tea. They were the best bamboo shoots I have ever tasted. Alex and Oppy were great hosts doing their utmost to ensure we all enjoyed ourselves and had what we needed. I would suggest staying for 2 nights in order to fully experience what staying here is all about.

The Tree House was certainly one of the highlights of our backpack trip to Thailand. We were able to escape the tourists and enjoy the waterfall treks, herbal sauna and cooking with the locals. Oppy, Alex and the locals were very kind and hospitable. We really recommend this unique experience to anyone who wants to do some trekking around Chiang Mai!

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip with OX. We have 6 children ages 1 - 13, and I'm not sure who enjoyed it most! We stayed 2 nights, enjoyed 3 days of trekking/sight seeing, cooking lessons, tea plantation visits, massages, and just plain "playing outside." The most memorable was visiting the village school and passing out candy and school supplies. We were amazed at how thankful the kids were, it was a wonderful experience for our kids. Alex gets a merit badge for hiking with small kids - carrying one occassionally, moving limbs out of the way for the one on my back, entertaining the daredevil in the preteen!
Had a great time! A little more rustic than we were expecting, but more personal also! Thanks for the memories!

We visited Chiang Mai in Feb 2012. Before arriving we found OX on the internet by chance and we weren't quite sure what to expect. The Tree House intrigued us and we thought it would be a fun experience for our family (we have 4 kids, ages 13 down to 6). Loved it!!! From pick up to drop off and everything in between, all ran very smoothly but Alex was also quite flexible in adjusting to what we wanted. We trekked through the jungle to a waterfall where we swam, visited a local village area and learned about tea plants and processing, learned to play Thai rummy, had a massage and did the steam sauna. The view over the valley and river below is incredible. Make sure to wake up to watch the sunrise. We also visited a local cave which was very interesting - worth the trip. Most memorable though was time spent with local kids at an orphanage/school. We brought supplies and toys which were well received and we just had a fun time playing with them when out of class. All these experiences were more authentic cultural experiences, which is exactly what we were looking for. Thank you Alex and Oppy.

I spent my birthday at the tree house and it will definitely be one thats hard to measure up to. Alex arranged for an elephant trek enroute which was amazing. After a delicious lunch at the tree house we went on a guided trek with Alex ,which was a first for me and amazing scenery along the way. The sauna with the coffee scrub was hard to beat. Another beautiful meal for dinner and Alex had even organised a birthday cake for me. The evening was finished off with fireworks and a massage.Yes you can even get a massage at the treehouse! Not forgetting the fact you then get to sleep in a treehouse for the night!!!! If you want to do something really different with amazing hosts make it a part of your trip to Chang Mai :)
Alex and Oppy are absolutely brilliant hosts who just go the extra mile. They made my birthday extra special for me :)

Oppy and Alex are amazing! Our experience at the Treehouse was unparalleled. Oppy stayed with us for the full 3 days as an interpreter and guide and ensured that we were able to get the most out of our experience. Our host family was wonderful and we were so lucky to get a peek into their lives. We have never felt so welcome in a foreign country than we did at the Treehouse, and we have OrientXplorer to thank for that! I will absolutely recommend them to anyone I know who plans to travel in Asia.
Not only was the Treehouse a breathtaking place to stay, but the meals, treks and company made our trip relaxing, exciting and an experience we will never forget!Thank you Oppy and Alex!
The entire booking process from initial inquiry through airport pickup was attentive and thorough. Thank you for being so professional!

Orient Xplorer and the Tree House were ultimately the best parts of our trip. During our time in Thailand, we were looking for an authentic experience where we could really get a sense of Thai culture and life—which is hard to find during a one week holiday. But Alex and Oppy gave us just that. We went on a beautiful hike to a waterfall, visited a stunning cave, met some local children, learned about green tea picking, relaxed in an herbal sauna, had a Thai massage, soaked up the fresh air and ate some amazing Thai food. Alex and Oppy, our wonderful guides, even taught us how to play Thai rummy. Overall, the experience was amazing and our trip would not have been the same without this visit. Book it!

We took this trip with three adults and our 7 month-old son. We had a great time, great green nature, very good food cooked for us, beautiful treehouse. We especially liked the relaxed local experiences with lung suk, who explained local activities through translator and guide Alex. Only downside of the trip was the hike to the waterfall which was due to abundant rainfall too hard with a backpack carrying our son.

We did an interesting trip to the tree house and the jungle together with our guides Uncle Suk and Alex. the trip lasted 2 hours and it was a very new experience for us. very interesting was also the elefant show at the beginning of our tour.
If you want to have a (first) close look to the life of the people living in the mountains and the jungle around them, a trip with alex and uncle suk is a very good chance to do that.
My daughter an I enjoyed the trip very much
