Overview

The Flight of the Gibbon Zip Line experience is for both adrenalin seekers and those interested in getting up close and personal with nature. The overall zip line course spans a total distance of 2km and involves an interconnected network of rope bridges, platforms and ladders that take you high up into the jungle canopy - an experience like no other.

The original concept was born out of a research project in Costa Rica in which forestry experts, in order to study the forest canopy, devised a series of ropes and pulleys to hoist themselves up into the forest canopy. The idea soon became an appealing eco-tourism activity as it allowed people to experience life in the canopy as well as learn about the plight and vulnerability of such forest ecosystems.

Although there isn't a minimum age criteria for children - the main criteria is that they are at least 120cm (4 feet tall). Young children are often taken in tandem - either by a responsible adult or a guide. Maximum weight is 150kg (330lbs). The zip lines and rigging systems meet and exceed International safety standards.

Itineraries

Morning-Day-Sunset Gibbon :
one day trip

Pick up from hotel/guesthouse and transfer to the Flight of the Gibbon HQ (50km East of Chiang Mai) 

Upon arrival, you will receive an introductory welcome talk, followed by fitting of safety gear and then head to the start point of the tour, where you will receive a safety brief. 

Once briefed you will begin your tour of the canopy.  

Depending on the time of your arrival you will either set-off on the Flight of the Gibbon experience or eat lunch and then begin your trip which also includes jungle trek and waterfall

Duration   

Depending on the size of your group, the tour takes roughly 5 hours (3 hours of which are spent in the Canopy).

FoG was my first ZIP line experience....I never did it before. And it has been a wonderful experience. With adrenalin rush as you zip along the wires as well as 'close encounter' with the nature are unforgettable. Although the platforms are built pretty high up on tree tops, you really never feel any danger. And novices like me also could take a video shot as I was zipping through the trees and gibbon (I was lucky to spot one close by). The FoG crews are very helpful and they are safety conscious which is needed for such adventures. This was one great experience in Chiang Mai that I will never forget.
I booked the trip through Alex and Oppy of Oriental Xplorer...wonderful people they are who provided all the support I needed.

How to Make a Multi Xplorer Booking:
Simply click on the "Add to my Multi Xplorer Itinerary" at the bottom of your chosen tour/activity and it will automatically update your multi xplorer itinerary. To view your current multi xplorer itinerary click on the "View my Multi Xplorer Itinerary" link. Should you wish to delete a chosen tour or activity, then deselect the check box and press the "Update Itinerary" tab. Once you are happy with your itinerary, proceed to the booking page, where you will be asked to fill out your details on the booking form.
